In March 2003, the Department of Human Resources distributed four different types of employee surveys to over 61,000 permanent County employees. These included Worklife, Training Needs, Computer Use, and Supervisor surveys. <<click here to read more about the 2003 surveys>> In January 2006, employees throughout the County were asked to complete a Strategic Values Survey and a sample of their supervisors were asked to complete a Strategic Supervisor Survey. The Strategic Values Survey is a shorter, refined version of the Worklife Survey that was administered in 2003. In general, the Strategic Values Survey instrument measured the extent to which the work environment supports and/or encourages performance, commitment, well-being, job satisfaction, and the desired County culture reflected in the County’s Strategic Plan. <<click here to read more about the 2006 surveys>> Surveying employees is one step in the County’s continuing effort to build Workforce Excellence and thereby improve organizational effectiveness and customer service. Future surveys are being planned and initiatives to enhance Workforce Excellence are in progress.
