The 2006 Strategic Values Survey and Strategic Supervisor Surveys were intended to serve several purposes.
- Obtain employee feedback on how well the organization maintains a positive work climate and supports performance.
- Engage employees in making the County a better place to work, increasing organizational effectiveness, and increasing organizational commitment.
- Highlight the strategic values and encourage managers and supervisors to pay attention to how their behavior affects employees and the performance environment.
- Identify the extent to which aspects of the work climate influence employee well-being, engagement, and performance outcomes.
- Reveal organizational strengths and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide snapshots of the County at different points in time which allow for the assessment of change and progress.
- Clarify priorities and drive positive change.
The purposes listed above all contribute to the County’s strategic goal of Workforce Excellence. Enhancing Workforce Excellence means that we enhance the capability, alignment, engagement, and performance of the workforce. As reflected in the Strategic Plan, enhancing Workforce Excellence is an ongoing process. Surveying employees is one step in the County’s continuing effort to build Workforce Excellence and thereby improve organizational effectiveness and customer service. Future surveys are being planned and initiatives to enhance Workforce Excellence are being planned and implemented.
